sunroof wont close completely

05 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab z71. had the truck for one year, now the sunroof wont close. it gets to about 2 inches of being closed and stops. cant see anything binding up, but it looks like some of the plastic track material is cracking. taking it to the dealer tomorrow hopefully. just wondered if anyone has heard of this before.

buddy of mine had a sunroof in his Yukon...motor was shot after 2 months and had to be replaced...under warranty of course but still that is rediculous

It sure is ridiculous - the factory electric sunroof on my 1983 Mercedes 300SD still works flawlessly.

 

so does the sunroof on my '98 Nissan Maxima and '99 Mazda 626. I am thankful I did not buy a Silverado with a sunroof.

It is certainly unfortunate that some are failing at a WAY to early age. I will counter those cases a little by stating that I have never had any problems with my factory sunroof on my Tahoe and it is used pretty much every time I drive and I have 167K on my truck. Of course, having said that, it will quit working tonight

 

Not convinced it is a wholesale problem with the design or components, just bad luck. I also had a Maxima with a sunroof that broke at 60K so all manufacturers can have premature failures.
