Can someone else with a 2001 Suburban or p/u with power windows and locks tell me if the switch in the passenger door panel for the power window and lock is supposed illuminate like the drivers side?  Thanks.

In my '01 crewcab (which should be the same as your suburban) all the switches on all the doors illuminate when the lights are on...  I have the LT package, but I doubt that would make a difference.

Thanks all for the replies.  I took the switch out of the door panel and did not find a bulb in the switch assy.  I have replaces them in my 99 Tahoe(bulb in the door switch assy.) so I knew exactly what I was looking for.  By the looks of it, It looks like the whole switch will have to be replaced just to get it light again....  Can that be??  Anyone know for fact if the bulb is replace-able and I might have missed it?  The vehicle (2001 Suburban LT) has 55,000 miles on it so it will no longer be covered under the warranty....

wowzers!!   55,000miles!!  I thought my '01 Tahoe had a lot with 29,000 miles!!

good luck on the light bulb issue.  If I remember when I get home, I'll check the service manual.  Keep us informed.  :D

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.  I looked in the book, and it didn't mention anything about power door lock/window illumination.  They did show how to unhook the switch though.  :)  I've briefly looked for the switch on the gmpartsdirect.com  but no luck.  I wouldn't think that switch would be much.  Right now, my suggestion is take out another switch assembly and see if it has a bulb.  I don't know how much work this is for you.  In fact, I don't think you would hurt anything by hooking that switch up to the door.  (This would eliminate any faulty wiring possibilities.)

Look at the plug and look for a gray wire. That is the dimming circuit. Unplug the switch and get a circuit tester. Touch the tester on the end of the gray wire and then turn on the park lights. If you have current, then you know the problem is in the switch, if not, then you have a problem farther down.

Hope that helps.
