5.3L V8 & 3.73's

I've been driving my 2006 GMC Sierra for about 2000 miles. It has the 5.3L V8, 3.73 gear ratio, crew cab, & 17" wheels. I had a 2003 Sierra with the same engine, rear ratio, in an xtra cab. The 2006 is not fully broke in, but it doesn't have the engine response of my 2003. The '03, with just suttle foot input will just about haze the tires right from the get-go. The '06 isn't the same. Lots more foot input to get the truck moving. What's causing this? I'm always curious what changes are made from year to year, and hope I'm not disappointed with them. I love this truck in every other way, but started questioning things like, are the gears in the truck different from the window sticker?? Will the combination really change once the engine is broke in?? Can anyone share some input here?

Howdy,

I have an 04 with the same engine and gears. I am running 285X75X16 tires. It was the same powerless feeling set up as yours. I ordered a tune from W4Me and it is a new truck. It will haze the tires now and the shifts are much better. I think that they are adding more torque management each year which makes them seem powerless. Good luck!!!!

You need to get your PCM tuned to get rid of the torque management that is robbing you of your off the line torque. Mine will light up the tires from the line now, wouldn't bark them when the pcm was stock (and with smaller tires).
