Wheel Alignment Problems

Recommended Posts

2006 Sierra had tire noise and inside feathering of both front tires at 3500 miles. Dealer had wheels aligned at a nearby tire dealer and rotated front to back. Three weeks and 1500 miles later, I noticed the front tires are again feathering on the inside. Took it to tire dealer who checked alignment. According to the printout, the wheels were within specification of 1/32 to 1/16. He said that he had another one just like mine on the same day but had not experienced similar problems with others. He set the wheels at "0" which eliminates any toe-in angle and gave me the printout. He said to drive it for a while and if it does not correct the problem, bring it back. Has anyone had this problem?

That ain't right....

But, I don't have a solution. My '05 with the factory Bridgestones (whatever---I'm at the office) has 13,000 miles on it and the tires have no alignment-related wear, or really, any wear. Rotation is every 3k - 5k miles.

But, your wear isn't normal.

I would ask if another alignment shop could be used, one that is a bit more professional that is not so strapped to the alignment books and observes actual geometry. That can make a tremendous difference.

take it to a large competent and reputable GM dealer who does not sublet out repairs and does the alignment in house. who knows what experience and qualifications as well as equipment that tire shop has.
