Locking Gas Cap for Yukon?

With the price of gas and the size of the tank in my 2005 Yukon I figured that a locking gas cap might be a good idea, up here in Canada it would cost me about $98.88 (US$88.29) to fill an empty tank . So I went to my local GM dealer and they told me that GM doesn't make one for my Yukon, sounds strange to me, is the parts guy right or have any of you guys bought a GM locking gas cap for an 05 Yukon?

Just curious, but have you ever met anybody, in your entire life, that's had gas stolen out of their car? I haven't.

As far as I know, on most vehicles there's a mechanism inside the filler neck that prevents somebody from dropping a hose down there.

I know that the guy that lived next door to me about 25 years ago used to siphon gas out of cars quite often to get gas for his Skidoo. Siphoning for your Skidoo, now how Canadian is that. Maybe cars are made differently now, I don't know.

Locking gas cap will be no use to keep someone from stealing your fuel. The rollover ball prevents siphoning. The latest method is they drill a hole in the tank and drain into containers.

I have a locking gas cap on 04 burb, cost about 35 buck. As to people taking gas, my dad owned a gas station in the 70s when the gas thing happened ( people were taking gas, they even made an insert like a tapered spring that went inside the neck. People will take gas just wait and see. Maybe my locking cap wont stop him but he might move on to another thats easyer to do ( drilling makes noise you know) ever try to get off a locking cap ? I have as a mechanic for people who lost there key tried to get caps off (( its not that easy in the middle of the day with all the right tools. So I rest my case.

I have a locking gas cap on my 2002 Yukon XL. Bought it at Canadian Tire.

I don't lock it anymore. As a few have posted, you can't syphon the gas out anyways.

You're welcome to it if you want it. Just pay the cost of shipping. ;)

I have had gas stolen out of my vehicle. Of course the vehicle it was taken from is 25 years old, don't know if that makes a difference. It now has a locking gas cap.

I remember the gas rationing in the 70's. You could not find a siphon for sale anywhere. They were selling like crazy. Lot of siphoning going on then. New vehicles have the rollover ball so you cant siphon any gas out. Now they use cordless screwdrivers with a drill bit. I saw one place where they drilled out a mail truck and it caught fire and blew up 2 other mail trucks. Morons are everywhere!

Thats what I have for my 01 Suburban and 02 Tahoe. They're roughly $15 a piece. It not hard to siphon gas out of the tank. I've done it pretty easily on my own vehicle. Besides if someone really wanted your gas, it would be easier for someone to drill a hole in the take and take the gas that way. It a plastic tank so sparks wouldn't be an issue.

Is a small plastic ball about the size of a ping-pong ball at the base of the filler tube. In the event of a roll over, the ball blocks the fill tube and doesn't allow fuel to come pouring out.
