How do I install new mirrors

I am in the process of getting a new set of the GM camper mirrors and don't know how to install. I know how to remove the mirrors from the door but how do I remove the door panels to access the power plug. I had thought about just cutting the wire and re-splice it but that's not the right way to do it.

I don't think you'll have to remove the door panels. Look for the triangular plastic panel next to the glass. It covers the three nuts that holds the mirror on. Also, you should see the connector for the electronics for the mirror.

Now, I'm assuming there's no real changes. There is a slight possibility that another connector needs to be plugged into the door mirror switch which would involve removing the panel.

Actually, it is easy to remove, but tricky, and there are a couple of keeper bolts that helps tighten things up. Somewhere on this site is a message with images. Hopefully, someone will post the location of the message.

Yes, you have to remove the door panel to get to the wire plug, there are two plugs for each mirror. The plug goes under the armrest controls. Also the wire is clipped to the door is about three different locations.

It's not that hard, there is a bolt behind the manual slide lock, one behind the door handle and one under the door and then there are three bolts for the mirror.

It took me about 45 minutes to do both sides when I installed my camper mirrors.

Hope this helps.

BADGERMAN,

I see the screw on the bottom of the door and I see the screw behind/under the armrest. Do I need to pull off the manual slide button or do I need to remove the piece around the door handle to find the other screw? Then I assume there are many of those push pins around the door panel to keep it against the door frame.

Just take a small screwdriver and prey it up. It is just held in with friction.

You will have to pull off the trim around the handle.

Once you have taken out all of the screws, then lift the panel up about an inch or two and it will pull away from the door.

The hardest part is getting the plugs off while holding up the panel. I did it by myself, but it would be easier if someone could hold the door panel while you pull all of the plugs. Don't worry about labeling the plugs, they only go into one location.

Then set the door panel aside and pull off the mirror and install the new one.
