beware of deep puddles

OK, the other day as I was driving there was a big puddle in the road. slowly went through it then by the time I got home my driver side floor was soaking wet with water,even my floor mat had water on it. The passenger side is dry. So I must have a leak on the driver side. Has anyone ever had this problem?

 

As soon as it stops raining I can see what is going on. Any advice would be helpful!

That is NOT GOOD.....umm i would check all your door seals...also check your firewall exits/entrys for wiring and make sure that they have a tight seal..

You also say it was raining out as well. Is it possible the rain in general caused the wetness and not necessarily the puddle? Isn't there an issue in some trucks where the windshield seals can leak?

Just how deep was this puddle??? I could see some water seepage if you were mudding and sunk it in water above the bottom of the doors but in normal driving I cant see how getting that much water inside is normal.

I think Id be rolling up the carpet and seeing if your floorboards are rusted out. You wouldnt think that would be the case on an '01 though.

Actually....check the grommet that goes into the cab that allows all the wiring coming from your door controls (Mirror, locks, etc) into the truck main body. I temporarily ran wires through this grommet and didnt seal it all the way unfortunately, so I acquired a ton of water over many months which brought lots of water into the floorboards of the drivers side. That would be the first place I would check. Hope this helps.

no the puddle wasn't that deep . It was half way up the orange cone that they had around the hole.

So that water was about 8" deep? Im kinda surprised your engine didnt stall.

I'd change the fluids in the diffs and Transfer case, like it or not, our vehicles don't hold up as well as Jeeps in the mud and water!! My truck has really crappy seals around the door.
