I heard that jimmy's are known for the injectors getting pluged and giving poor gas mileage. Mine is a 1998 with a 4.3L with a W engine code. The check engine light isn't on and it seems to run good. I have repalced the spark plugs and fuel filter already. Can the injectors be cleaned and how? thanks for any sugestions.

We use BG injector cleaner here. It does a good job. Make sure who ever does it runs the cleaner through the fuel rail and through the injectors. Some places just suck it through a vacuum hose and pour some in the tank. Waste of money.

Dont you need a machine to run it thru the rails? If I put a couple bottles of Techron in the tank every 3,000 miles do you think I am wasting my money?

Tire type. pressure and size as well can have a big effect on MPG sometimes. If you have agressive treaded tires it will cost you some MPG.

thats what i'm getting for combined city hiway on my 01 jimmy, best i ever got was a road trip from florida to wisconsin, all hiway, 65-70 mpg, got 22-23 hiway. i've tried all different types of injector cleaners and seafoam seem to work best for the money. also, the gm parts direct sell gm injector cleaner, and if you google service bulletins for gm 4.3l v6 w code, there are update parts and instructions for cleaning the fuel injectors, and a list of parts to up-date from csfi to mfi, it was due to many complaints of idle rough and loss of power, and if the customer complains, they clean it first, and replace if still complaint, if vehicle is still under warrentee. the parts from gm cost about 350 usd to buy to convert.
