rear end rattle

i have a 2000 z71 and i have tried a number of remedies. a loud rattle that can be heard inside the cab comes from the rear of my truck whenever i hit a bump. i have taken down the spare tire, romoved my bed cover, and removed the tailgate but the noise is still there. aside from paying a small neighborhood kid to ride under the truck for me and listen, i dont know how i can make the truck rattle sitting in the driveway.

 

i have read posts about a nickel plated slip yolk replacement but i am pretty sure that is not the case. i am familiar with that clunking sound and i have had my driveline lubed before to eliminate the noise.

 

any suggestions?

 

oy yeah...i have checked all mounting hardware, it is not the bed falling off of my frame.

I had the same vehicle you have with the same problem. It's the leaf springs that are making the clunking sound. On my new Z71 I noticed they solved the problem by installing rubber caps on the ends of the leafs. There is supposed to be a GM kit available that is the caps and some kind of adhesive. This has been discussed here on another thread or check with a dealer.
