looking for exhaust opinions

I just recently bought an 03 Z71 ext. cab with a 5.3 and I want to add another exhaust system on there that has some bite to it. I'm only 20 so I can deal with a loud system and i was thinking about the Flowmaster American Thunder dual rear exit system. Anybody have this one? Any sound clips or pics? Also, will this system work with my rear trailer hitch (essential).

thanks again,

Mike

I've got a K&N\JBA Evol 3" single 304 stainless, I believe a single 3-3.5" is better for low and midrange power. Google it for your self. I got it 5yrs ago fo like $340 shipped just before K&N dropped it....

Hrmmm now I gotta do more research. I really like the look of the dual out the back but I want the biggest power increase for towing. :)

If you want to increase...it ain't gonna' be duals. Put a single 3" on it and a good muffler and tow away :)

Go with the Flowmaster, it's the best performance exhaust on the market.

I've got the dual outlet flowmaster, and I didn't really notice a difference on the low end. I did however notice the power @ or above 2k was vastly improved. Not to mention it sounds great! louder, but not too loud. JM $.02

Awesome, I just clicked on your cardomain thing. I like the looks of the dual the most, if i'm going to spend that much on exhaust I atleast want it to be visible. Thanks!

Everyone has a system they like, but trying to be objective, we've tried several on our small fleet of trucks. All late model GM small blocks with the purpose of hauling lots of tools and gear or towing trailers. The best power increase for towing and a really nice mellow sound has been the Gibson Super Flow Single Sideswept 3" catback system. Has a nice growl and grunt to boot! The Banks Powerpack system is good also but pricey. I think the Gibson website has sound bytes to listen to. Good luck!

LSx based truck engines are a FAR CRY different than a small block!! All that works "great" on a TBI 5.7 doesnt work that "great" on an LM7 5.3! Many truck guys have tried the Gibson Super Truck only to find they just sound good. Thats it. They induce more backpressure than what an LS engine likes. Trust me I tried that exhaust. I only ended up ripping it off and selling it.

Alright, i'm gonna look into corsa too. I'd like the SLP system but it's big money.

For what it is, its not worth the coin! If you arent looking for ear bleeding noise. Corsa is a good choice. There is zero drone inside my truck. Outside its a different story. Loud as hell when I wanna beat on it!! If you decide on it, youll see what the growl is like!! :)
