Well guys, I recently bought an 04 GMC Sierra (Stepside) Reg cab 2wd with the 5.3. And I was curious as to what are some good modifications to gain more horsepower. I already learned a few from my last truck. I had a 01 dodge ram reg cab 2wd with the 5.9l. I had K&N CAI, Dual 40s flowmasters, Fastman Throttle body, 180 Degree therm. The truck was pretty quick and it seemed like it could pass everything but a gas station. When i got this sierra I was pretty impressed with the performance. its pretty quick, but theirs always room for more hp. So far what I have done it is just get exhaust installed. I put on a Super 40 single in dual out flowmaster. I already have ordered the K&N CAI and it should be installed by this weekend. Does anyone know of any good mods for hp?

What I had in mind is.. Hypertech programmer, bigger intake?(does gm motors have TB's?), headers, and maybe some lower gears 3.92 or 4.10. Any suggestions? -Tyler

Order yourself a set of summit headers. They are made by Pace Setter and are a whopping $150 for the pair. Don't waste your money on the hypertech, for $158.10 you can get a completely custom tuned PCM from wait4me performance. Those two mods alone are cheaper than the hypertech and I'll tell you this, I love getting out on Interstate 5 in the wee hours and watching my speedo peg at 120 mph and watching the RPMs climb (need a bigger speedo). Well worth the money and have yet to be beat during friendly stoplight rompings with the local kids. Cheers.
