2002 Suburban Charging ??

Yesterday while driving the Suburban listed below my battery light came on a couple of times and the voltage needle started intermittently flickering around 14 volts. The flickering was there even at highway speeds, not just at idle. The engine re-started without any trouble. Is this a sign of bad voltage regulator?

I probably should add that I was hit in the passenger side rear quarter last week below the tail-light.

Update, found out the positive battery terminal threads were stripped. This seems to have taken care of the problem.
