any problems ever, with Mobil 1?

I think you will be fine with mobil 1, but you did ask. I put it into a small block 350 once and the engine got very clicky/noisy. I don't think this is typical though.

Make sure the budget for the synthetic does not come from radiator hoses and other maintenance. radiator hose failures kill engines.

Well, thing is with Mobil 1, you change the oil less often as it resists degredation much better than dino oil. So in addition to the added performance(slight mpg, less wear and carbon buildup), you change the oil less often (10k miles) as opposed to 3k. So, even though it's 3x the price, you change it 3x less... Doesn't really raise your oil budget much. Either change the filter at 5k or buy a Mobil 1 Extended life filter and leave it in for 10k miles.

Never any problems, here, though. I've been running M1 ever since I've been changing oil. What got me on it is all the mechanics with big successful garages used M1 and stood by it so I did a little research and became a firm believer in it.

Also, I'd recommend sending in a used oil sample into Blackstone Laboratories for analysis at around 7k miles and see what they say about it. They'll let you know approximately how many more miles it has left and when you should change it that way you can optimize your oil changing schedule with your budget and be sure that you aren't throwing perfectly good oil down the drain!

Oh, I didn't mean that as every single change to send in a sample for analysis, just the first time or two to gage how your driving habbits effect the oil.

This is the second GM truck I've used Mobil 1 in. My 01 I bought used and I don't know what the previous owner used in the truck. My 04 had Mobil 1 from its first oil change. I experienced NO problems in switching over in a used truck OR in using it in a brand new truck. It is an awesome product and honestly if you buy the 5 qt jug @ Wallyworld the expense isn't so much more than dino oil. Just as important stay with a good oil filter. (In other words avoid a FRAM.) Good luck.

I love Mobil 1. I've been running it since 5,000 miles and I now have 170K+. I change it every 5000-6000 miles and every samply goes to Blackstone. They keep telling me my engine shows is wearing more like 30K as opposed to 170K. I also do my own changes so with the extended interval, it is no more expensive than taking it to Jiffy Lube every 3K for dino oil.
