I am in the process of upgrading the stock system, and I am trying to figure out how to go about making a place for the amps.

There will be 2 units, one for the mains, and one for the sub. My thought was to mount them on the back wall of the cab, but I don't want to punch through the sheetmetal there.

right now I am hoping to find something suitable to attach either a bracket or a board to so I can attach the amps to the board. I was looking at the mounts on the floor that hold the seatback in place and was thinking of something along the lines of a plate/bracket bolted there.

anyone out there mount the amps behind the seat? looking for ideas and would love to see a few pics of peoples setups.

Thanks

there arent too many places to mount amps on the x-cabs. i always put mine beind the rear seat on the wall. put some silicone on the threads when you screw it up there. it will be fine. good luck getting the back seat out of the way...

i have an exsb truck and i took a 1/2 MDF and used silicone to attatch the board to the back of the cab. then took 1/2 screws to hold the amps. if you have a thick amp you will not be able to fold the seat all the way up(only about 1/2 way witch happen to me) but if you use a long narrow amp you should be fine. mine works great because i have my sub box there so i never lock my seat in the upright position.

My amps are under the my front seats (no power seats - ecsb).

The guys who put them in fabbed a bracket that attached to the bottom of each seat. One seat has the amp for the stock head unit and the other has the amp for the 10" sub under the back seat.

The amps aren't huge so the fit was OK. And it makes it a whole lot easier at first when you're adjusting them.

Really depends on the size of your amp, though. Back wall is a good location, too.

Ive been brainstorming a little bit. I have 2 strobe power supplies and a siren unit to mount somewhere. If you have an extended cab, I came up with a thought that may work nicely for you. The only drawback I can think of at the moment is maybe not enough airflow. What if you got one of those under-the-seat storage systems like those made by Duha? That way you can enclose everything inside this "box" assembly, and fold the seat back down over it. If you want to add more speakers or whatnot, it looks like its made of plastic, so you could probably cut whatever holes you need. I dont know if it will work for you or not. I really have no clue on stereo stuff. I haven't even figured out where to start out planning out an upgrade to make my system sound better hehe.

I just used self-tapping screws and mounted them directly to the back wall of the cab, behind the rear seat.

I had a couple of big-a**ed amps, and had zero issues with clearance and/or overheating.

where are yall guys getting enough ground to run this multi-amp setup?

i have only one amp, but its grounded to the studs for the seat frame w/ an o-ring crimp connector.

I only have one amp, but this is how I done it. I drilled through the cab and bolted directly to the frame. I also run a ground from the negative battery terminal and the alternator bracket to the frame to complete the circuit. I then upgraded to alternator wire. I also connected my power wire for the amp where the alternator and positive battery wires meet up. I didn’t feel that there was enough room for the bigger battery post on the positive. All wiring was done with 4AWG, cause I’m only running one 400watt amp. Here are some pics. I hope this all helps.
