I installed a new fuel pump in my S-10 last night and now it won't hit a lick. :seeya: I can hear the pump cut on and then a couple of clicks under the hood, but then it just spins. It's not getting any fuel. Please help! Any ideas what I need to do?

Need some more info. I'm guessing it would not start before you replaced the pump? Does it have fire? What year and engine?

It did run before the replacement, but would not start when cold and missed on acceleration. I was told to replace pump. It is on a 1989 S-10 with a 4.3 engine. I have voltage to the pump relay of 12.4, voltage to the injectors of 12.4 and voltage to the connector where the fuel pump hooks up of 8.38. I can hear the pump cut on and then two clicks under the hood when I turn the key on. I am not getting any fuel through the injectors.

Thanks for the help.

I would spray carb cleaner down the throttle body while cranking to see if it will briefly start. If it does then you know it is fuel related. Seems like a big voltage difference from the relay to the pump. But for now just see if it will start on carb cleaner.

It will briefly start. I took the fuel line loose at the throttle body last night and while turning the motor over there is no gas comming from the line. I guess I screwed something up when putting the new pump in. I will put five more gallons of gas in today to make sure this is not the problem. If that doesn't help I guess I will put the old pump back in. At least it worked some. Maybe then I can get it to someone that knows what the heck to do with it. If you have any more suggestions to try, please let me know as I am at a loss.

Thanks so much for the help.

why dont you do somthing simple like change the fuel filter, could be clogged up and not sending any fuel to the tb i would change that even if that isnt the problem just to rule it out.
