2003 Silverado, How To Replace Ignition Switch

I didn't get any response in the "How To" section so I am posting in this section.

 

My ignition switch is sticking and leaves the starter on sometimes. Other times, it doesn't turn on the radio amp. I sprayed some silicon lubricant in the keyhole and it seems to be working, at least for now.

 

I looked at the steering column and couldn't figure out how to remove the steering wheel column cover. I would apreciate directions to get to the ignition switch.

IIRC, the front "cover" on the wheel is actually a part of the airbag module. To remove this there are two small pin holes on the back side of the wheel that need something pushed in to release the airbag assembly. Needless to say this is a delicate procedure that needs to be done properly to avoid setting off the airbag and I'm not even sure if it needs to be done to replace the switch.
