Knock sensor P0327

Bought truck a month ago. On my way to Orange tx from Round Rock tx, the check engine light came on. Slight loss of power, but still running smooth. No knocking. Hooked up scan tool and got P0327. This was happened half way between Austin and Houston Tx. Took truck to Dealer in Orange tx for repair first thing this morning. Does not have parts in stock and cannot work on it till Wednesday. I have to leave here and head home Wednesday morning. Tech told me that my truck may stall and not start again. Is this correct? Seems to me like the truck went into "backup mode" and seems to be running ok. It has a slight loss of power and no pinging at all. Need advise.... should I call my boss and say I will be gone an extra day or should I be ok driving home.....

By the way, the light went off on the way back to my relatives house from the dealer and its running great right now.

I took mine in recently to get a knock sensor fixed because it had thrown the code

I was under the assumption that there was only one but a few days later the mechanic called and said the "other" knock sensor was out Anyhow both were rusted to bits, he saved them for me stating he didnt even know how the truck was still running the truck ran fine i was just tired of looking at the Check engine light i got about a half mile per gallon increase on the trip back home houston to san antone anyhow he was telling me that washing you engine will leave a little pool of water where one of the sensors is and cause it to corrode i was also told to stay away from the carwashes with the undercarrige spray

sorry for the long post just thought id try to shed some light

Where are the knock sensors on the 98 Yukon 5.7? I get pinging but no check engine light.

i dont think they are under the intake manifold like on the 5.3's. i remember a post on here one time stating it was really easy fix on the 5.7. i think its somewhere on the front of the motor but dont remember exactly. im sure someone on here knows because i remeber the guy was saying he could swap it out in 15 minutes, and everyone jumped him thinking it was under the manifold.

The knock sensor on my '92 5.7 was in the side of the block, down by the starter. Took about 3 minutes.

That was a TBI...Not sure about the Vortec 5.7's though.

One of the knock sensors went out on my '02, and I drove it home from Dallas (about a 3 hour drive) with it like that. Still got decent mileage too.

That's BS with the water crap, poor design.

As long as it's under warranty -- factory and extended I will continue to wash the motor and keep it clean. If that means the knock sensor fails 50 times and costs GM $8,000 to repair it, then so be it. It's their problem for the poor design, not mine. I'm not letting my motor get dirty and scummed up.

There is a half-a$$ed fix by simply creating a silicone dam around the sensors....but that's just a band aid.
