Need help with my dashboard

I've got an 04 2500HD . IT has 17k now, and its very very very rarely in the sun. It's always garaged, etc.

My dashboard is the dark carbon color. Believe it or not the dashboard is peeling up in about 6 different spots and the black is showing.

The dealer says they can paint the dashboard to fix it.

I say BS and replace the entire dash--I don't want my dash painted again. The same problem is going to happen donw the road when my warranty is up.

What's your thoughts. I'm sweating over this one.

Maybe try another dealer,We've changed a few at the dealership for peeling paint.

We have never even thought about "repainting" the dash, especially since we can order them in the correct color from GM.

When they change the dashboard, what's the chance of my wires getting hacked up, etc?

I'm going to call again tomorrow and tell them i don't want it painted I want a new one.....if they don't go for it, I'll go 30 miles donw the road to the next one.

No real chance at all of any wires getting hacked up,Its not a "complete" I/P panel, only the upper half.

They don't even have to mess with any major wires at all other than the one for the light sensor on the top,and thats nothing major at all.

Although one of our guys did break the light sensor once, but he put a new one back in.

What's surprising about your dealer's response is that the dealer gets paid by GM for warrenty work. So I would think that they would prefer to replace the part than mess around with painting it both to satisfy you and to make more money (unless they make more on painting).

I cannot have my dash painted, I am alergic to the paints and would not be able to drive the truck for months. I used to do body work, which is wy I am now sensitised to all of the chemicals involved. You might try a medical excuse if all else fails.

Good luck,

pealing = new parts don't let um get away with a $0.90 can of vinyl spray

went threw that with my gto's door handles. heck i was waiting on a new set after having them painted 3 times when traded it for the truck.

They aren't going to do the spray paint. Like I said I'll break the dash before they use paint on my new truck.

I also found 2 more spots and the steering wheel leather is doing the same thing.

This truck has more little problems than anything I've ever owned. And it's only got 17k!

I don't. All I use is a wet rag and wipe it down, mine still looks new. I don't think the Armoral will hurt the paint, but you never know. I stopped using it when I found out it had silicone in it and silicone dries out rubber (tires) and vinyl (old dashes). I had to replace a set of expensive tires once because the dry rotted due to being sprayed once a week. I just call that a stupid tax nowadays.
