5.3 with 3.42

Was wondering what all of you with the 3.42 rearend and 5.3 engine are getting. Please post if its 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive and crew cab, regular, or extended. Right now on our 06 its getting right around 16. Just wondering if it will get better once its broken in.

my last 2 tanks with a 2000 5.3 3.73 extended was 17.6. ac running 3500 foot altitude hilly terrain in northern arizona. I'm happy.

'06 1500 Crew 5.3 w/ 3.42 rear. K&N Cold air intake. 16 is pretty average around town due to the stop lights, idling in the drive, things like that. At 60mph down the highway I get 20 give or take. 70mph seems to drag it down to about 18 pretty even.

im pretty much all in town and sometimes short trips on the highway and with my 5.3 with 3.42ext cab 4wheel , im averaging 16.3

2006 half-ton Z71 4x4, 3.42 gears, 5.3 flex fuel. On my commute into work (about 28 miles of highway), averaging 65-70 MPH, I get a little over 20 MPG. This is with no wind and the air running part of the time. Unloaded.

 

With E85 I'll do about 17 on this trip.

 

I have a little over 9K on my pickup now, and it's really starting to break. My mileage is still improving all the time.

2003 1/2 ton extended cab short box, 4x4, with 3.42 gears, and K&N filter in stock air box. Last time I kept track of mileage we drove across Wyoming against the wind and it got 17.4 mpg. Coming back (with the wind) it got 20.8. That was running 70-80 mph most of the way. We were loaded up with luggage, and 4 people, with the air conditioner on, so I guess that mileage wasn't too bad?

'06 K1500 5.3HO, extended cab, std box, 4x4, 3.42 stock! I'm getting about 17-19mpg avg. My normal driving is 60% City/40% Hwy. Hwy driving is never over 75mph and I'm easy on the throttle, usually shifts around 2000-2500rpm's. If I do more hwy driving my mpg goes up, 19+. Right now my mileage is about 8k.

2005 Work Truck in signature with 23,000 miles, averages around 16+ in 2 lane country road only driving. Averages high 18's on the freeway running around 70mph.

04 rcsb, average around 18 mixed driving, best was 21. On a trip to FL (around 1200 miles) I averaged 18.5-18.7 running at 80-85

what i wanna know is how i am getting worse mileage than ya'll and i have a 3.23 thats right a 3.23 with my 5.3L

'06 Tahoe, 4x4, 5.3, 3.42. Around 2500 miles and the mileage has gotten better. Averaging around 15.9, city and freeway mix. When I first bought it I was down in the 13's.

New <700 miles, 4.8L, 4x2, 3.23 Sierra SL2, crewcab, 17-18.3mpg mostly city, have not had a chance to get a true highway figure yet.
