Electrical issues

I have a silverado ss with an electrical problem. I have replaced the alt 3 times and the battery a few times but when the truck sits for 6 hours or more it will not crank as the battery is 2 low on charge. it goes from a fully charged to discharged state overnight. I have unhooked my remote starter as its the only added in electrical option on the truck but it does not help. I have used a multimeter and hooked it in series to see the current draw and it draws 2.5 amps at first connection and then in 30-40 seconds drops down to 0.00 amps when the truck falls "asleep" yet the battery is continually dead. I have replaced it 3 times in 4 months so I do not feel it is the battery but.... How many amps-or millli amps should the truck pull after it has fallen asleep? Any ideas would be appreciated. Has anyone had any similiar issues.

Thanks

Quiescent current should be less than 30mA. 6 hours is a very short time for your battery to go dead. This equates to about a 1-3A draw. When you hook your ammeter in, where are you putting it?

I put the meter between the negitive post on the battery and the negitive cable that goes to battery (it is disconnected)and using it to complete the circuit. When the circuit is completed the cd player does its disc shuffle that takes about 2.5 amps(shows on the meter anyways) then tapers off to show 0.00 amps-- sounds crazy I know

Check the vanity lights in the visor. If the little lid doesn't shut all the way the lights will stay on. (still, you'd think that'd show up on the ammeter)
