So I have a concealed weapons permit for South Dakota. Does anyone know the states this reciprocates through? Or can you apply for a federal one so I can carry this across state lines? Also if you do carry, what do you carry the gun in? (Which LOCKING case?)

You shouldn't have to get a ccw to carry rifles...unless your state has some wierd laws or you mean a gunrack for a pistol. Either way, God Bless Texas!!

Dang....

Looks like SD license sucks. I could get a Nebraska one fairly quickly probably. It seems to be good in a lot more states...

Any ideas on cases?

Im thinking that there isnt a federal permit because each state has there own rules and regulations concerning guns....i know, it sucks! But for instance in illinois you cant conceal a weapon. Any weapon in a vehicle must be in a fully enclosed case and zipped up. if its not in a case i believe it must be fully broken down and not functional. Also if you have ammo for the gun it cannot be kept in the case with the gun. You also must have a F.O.I.D. (Firearm Owners Identification Card which is obtained by the Illinois State Police) with you to even have a gun in your possesion. If you dont and they pull you over, they will take your gun and take you to jail. Its pretty strict... so i recommend if your coming through this way you check out the illinois gun laws.

I am a Basic Pistol Safety Instructor for the NRA. Every State is different with it's gun laws. Here in Connecticut it is pretty tough to get but if you jump through all the hoops you get the permit. But I can not carry anywhere else. One of the only states that reconizes my permit is Alaska. Massachucetts is brutal!!!! You have a large bore or small bore permit then on top of that you need a ammunition permit. It is a real bitch. To get a non resident permit in Mass I would have to take a basic pistol safety course every year (EVEN THOUGH I AM AN INSTRUCTOR) and the cost is prohibitive.Vermont has none. You can carry in Vermont concealed or non concealed, New Hampshire is pretty easy for a non resident permit. Your best bet is to do your research for every state. It has been rumored that they are working on a federal permit that would be like your drivers license and allow you to carry in all 50 states but you might be dead and gone by the time that passes.

Just keep it out in th open, strapped to your leg, where everyone knows you mean business....

I eventually like to get one myself.

That's the best license you'll EVER have.  Saved my life one night.

You should get one. My wife got one finally and says she feels safeR now with it. She was raised very anti until she met my country azz. I finally opened her eyes and now she sees the light.

How so? I'd rather not go into much detail.
