Theftlock info

Did you set up a code for theftlock?  If you have the code, have it handy.  With the radio off, press MN and 000 will show up.  Use the MN and HR buttons to match your code.  Press the AM/FM button to confirm.  SEC will appear and the radio is functional.  If theftlock was not setup, try using 000 as the code.  If that still does not unlock it, or you don't have the code, you will have to take it to the dealer.  Good luck.  BTW, welcome to the forum.

You may be out of luck.  The exact same thing happened with our old 95 Blazer and we had to take it to the dealer sonce we had never programmed the access codes.  When the service dept tried to charge us $40 for unlocking it, I complained the salesman never explained this feature to me and they ended up dropping the charge.

Why even have that feature?  I've never heard of a thief stealing a stock stereo unit :idontgetit: .  Geez-one wheel and tire is probably worth more than that piece of junk.

I've done some work on a 2002 Avalanche. I had disconnected the battery, when I was finished I reconnected the battery and the radio went into 'Loc' mode. How do I reset this. I don't think that it was setup for theftloc since delivery. Do I have to go back to the dealer? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

On some older vehicles (without theftlock) I know some people would wire a 9v battery to a cig. lighter (male plug) and plug it into the lighter socket before disconnecting the battery resulting in voltage to some of the components(i.e clock and radio settings) and saving the "memory" from being erased. Has anyone ever tried this? And /or do you think this would work with the theftlock system?  :ehh:  :ehh:

I recall someone posting a way before on how the dealership goes about disabling the theft-loc, I'll check today to see if I can find it.

I wouldn't even bother w/ the 9v trick since the radios save everything but the time when you disconnect the battery.

After you get it repaired either disable your theftlock or I would write it down somwhere in the truck not in plain sight so you won't forget it.

Somewhere in the manual it should tell you how to set the code and disable the theftlock feature which is what I did. If you dont have a code and its locked than you have to take it to the dealer.
