A/C fan speed not working

Hey guys need your help. The air conditioner fan speeds do not seem to be working well. On setting one or two nothing comes out of vents. On three, four and five it blows really hard as it normally does. Any ideas why speeds one and two do not work. Fan Speed two worked just recently but not as of today. Any ideas would be appreciated! THANKS

I'd try the blower motor resistor first since they seem to be the cause of most of the fan speed issues.

Thanks for the advice. Picked up a blower resistor at dealer this morning, and it did the trick! Thanks for the help!!!!

You might want to unplug the resistor again and check for any discolored terminals or melted plastic. Most of the resistors I replace have terminals with poor tension and the heat is what takes the resistor out. If the connector looks OK, rock on. If not you will need to replace the connector or the new resistor will not last very long.

I think this is the same problem on my 2003 Tahoe.

AC was all well and good, but stopped only setting 5 works.

 

Will get a resistor tommorow.

Just wanted to double check if it is the resistor. I checked allllll fuses everything good..

 

was it hard to replace resistor????

do i just pull down the glove box area?

Most of the resistors I replace have terminals with poor tension and the heat is what takes the resistor out. If the connector looks OK, rock on. If not you will need to replace the connector or the new resistor will not last very long.

Your going to have to remove the heater/air conditioning assembly cover (below the glove box). This is removed utilizing a 7mm socket (3-4 screws securing it). After that's out of the way it's sitting right next to the blower motor with a 7 wire electrical connector hooked to it. Remove the 7mm screw and replace as necessary. You can also purchase a $20 Chilton's and it will show you more troubleshooting procedures as well as pictures of all the above mentioned procedures. Good luck!
