Will a 99 HTech programmer work on a 96?

Let me first say hello and I am glad I found this forum!

I have owned 2 GMC trucks, the 1st a 1982 High Sierra 1/2 Ton w/ 5.7L, SM465, 39" Mickey T's and 10" of all suspension lift.  This has been sold within the last 6 months.  It was fun while it lasted, it's primary function a show truck/daily driver.  It's novelty wore off one day, and I sold it.

I just purchased a 96 Sierra 4x4 with the 4.3L, NO LIFT, 32" radials.  I put a K&N filter and Flowmaster cat-back on it, and I must say it runs great!  Very happy.

Here are some photos of the trucks (and my Vette):

Here is my question:

I want to buy a programmer off of a forum member here, and he is advertising it as a 96-99 programmer, but when I go on H-tech's website, there are individual part #'s on each year.  I am hoping, since I already paid for it, that the 99 can program 96,97,98 and 99.

Any ideas?

Also, any experiences with the programmer? ya or nay?

Thanks!!!

The Hypertech Power Programmer for the 99 will also work for the 98 if the engine is the 4.3, 5.0, 5.7, and the HPP is for the same engines.  But these are the only two years that are interchangeable.  I know as I had a 98 Z71, and now have a 99 Yukon, and have used the same HPP on both vehicles. When it first powers on it says it is for both years.  Hope this helps.

later
