I am about to do 100000 mile service on my 98 Z71. This is what I am going to do so far;

Air filter

Fuel filter

Oil filter

Transmision filter

PCV valve

Spark plugs

Spark plug wires

Battery cables

Serpentine belt

Belt tensioner

Radiator hoses

Distributor rotor and cap

Thermostat

All fluids (Differential, transfer case, transmission, oil, coolant, front axle, brake, pwr steering)

I will be leaving for several months so I must be sure that all is in good order.

DID I MISS ANYTHING?

Have you checked the electrolite level in the battery and maybe charge it up fully? How about windshield wiper blades? Front end lube? I'd also check tire pressures, including the spare. How are the brakes wearing? Other than that, I'd say you covered everything!

You say that you are leaving for a few months, will you be taking this truck or leaving it behind for someone else to drive? The reasion I asked is that experts say that it's never a good idea to do service on a vehicle and then go on an extended trip imediately. You would be better just changing the oil and servicing these items when you return.

I know that this seems like reverse thinking but the reasoning is that right now you know that you have no problems, when you start changing parts you will be more prone to a break down.

Now if you have time to service these items and the drive the truck loccally for a couple of weeks before you leave then you should be fine.
