280,000 too much?

hey, im sorta new here...I havent posted alot because ive been too busy reading threads. i own a 1990 GMC sierra stepside with around 280,000 thousand miles on it. Im not very mechanically inclined but i am pretty good with my hands so im pretty confident in my abilities to successfully succed. the truck has a 305 in it (the stock motor) and I was wondering if any of you had opinions as to what mods i could do or what would work the best with my motor. I also have a 3inch magnaflow exhaust on the truck. will have pics in the darkroom soon.

Don't mess with a good thing, if i were you i would make it a goal to get to 500,000 miles. Hell, Your over halfway there and i would try to do it with the stock motor. God's speed man

Hey my '95 I just picked up has 290,000 on the clock...Runs real strong actually, and will run better once I 1. fix the exhaust donut leak and 2. finally put the back half of the exhaust on it (muffler rotted in half). Other than that, it's got a few dings and scrapes but it's a great truck...no leaks, shifts good, 4x4 works, etc...Oh yeah, and I've been averaging about 15 mpg too
