Differential Questions?

What size differential do I have, 8.2", 8.5" or 8.625" and how many splines, 28 or 30?

 

I like the PowerTrax No-Slip Traction System for the following reasons:

 

1) No clutch or friction plates to ever replace/rebuild.

2) Uses OEM fluid because no clutch or plates.

3) Promises to have benifits of locker with smoothness of posi.

4) Promises easy install with wrench and screwdriver.

5) I very seldom go offroad intentionally and don't need a full locker and associated noise and quirkyness.

 

Would appreciate any comments on the PowerTrax Products and recommended PowerTrax distributors.

2002 Reg Cab Short Sportside SLE 4.8L Auto

Code: GU6 Rear Axle 3.42 Ratio 10 Bolt "open" Differential

 

Do Not Have:

Code: G80 Locking Rear Differential (Eaton)

Code: NW7 Electronic traction Assist

Some good questions. I have been thinking about changing my gears from 3.73 to 4.10. With a 4.8 it seems like the 285s have taken alot of power on hills.

you have a 30 spindle, uless for some reason you've put on a rear diff from a truck older than 86(I think thats the year).

I have the Lock-Right, I love it. IT works great but as you stated a little "quirky" someimes taking a sharp turn uis a little rough, but other than that I don't know its there. At the drag strip It did a really good job too. Although its the full-locker and your getting the No-slip, I'm betting you'll see an increase in performance, even if it's not as high as if you got the Lock-right. But what I don't understand is why the No-slip is so much more? I guess more people are wanting less sound than I thought!

Correct me if I'm wrong, because I've never seen either one in person, but from what I understand, the No-Slip is a modified Lock-Right. So, I guess they had to add more stuff to it to get it to function more like a posi and make it smoother.
