antifreeze leak

I just bought a 96 Tahoe and the previous owner capped off a spout coming off the radiator just below the radiator cap and overflow tube. It is capped with a rubber piece and a metal clamp. Does anyone know what with spout is for? The rubber end capping it off does not look like it is factory. Thanks for the help!

It is an aftermarket radiator. Some trucks had a heater core hose return line that used that port. You 96 doesn't thus the cap. I have the same on my truck.

What kind of cap should be on it? All I have is a rubber cap with a clamp on it, does not seem to be the best solution to me.

Put whatever you want on it. Mine has been there for a couple years with zero trouble.
