Black Soot

After installing a new intake and magnaflow exhaust I'm getting a considerable amount of black soot coming out of the tailpipe. Enough that I have to scrub it off the side of the truck! Judging by the amount of carbon in the tip the truck is running rich. Fuel mileage hasn't been hurt, i can still get 21+ on the interstate and about 18 around town.

 

Any ideas? I'm looking at getting a programmer or custom tune to hopefully cure the problem.

Take a look at your MAF and see if there is any buildup on it from the new filter (assuming it's an oiled filter).

on cleaning the MAF can't hurt, also you need it tuned for the increse in air flow. so get it tuned and enjoy your new mods...

after i made the post i thought about the MAF. I'll give it a good cleaning.

 

Now i'm trying to decide between pcmforless or Wait4me.

 

Any opinions?
