Its B&M's Shift Improver Kit.

"The B&M Shift Improver Kit the easiest way to get the stout performance you've always wanted out of your automatic transmission - and you get two modes of performance to select from: Heavy Duty, or Street/Strip. It's our least expensive and simplest to install kit. All you need are a few dollars and some hand tools! In the space of an afternoon, you can turn your transmission into a B&M-tuned unit! Just ask the thousands of satisified customers that have installed one in their transmissions!

Stage 1 - Heavy Duty

Firm positive shifts without loss of driver comfort for improved performance in all street vehicles. Recommended for regular passenger vehicles.

Stage 2 - Street/Strip

Provides very positive shifts for high performance street use or for competitive events. This model is for the enthusiast who wants the hardest, quickest possible shift. "

I'm glad I came across this... I need it. I can sometimes feel the tranny slipping near the top rpm range under full throtle accelleration. Either that or I'm spinning the tires at 80mph, but i dought that. Its only happened a few times and I let off as soon as I felt that. The tranny oil is perftect, doesn't smell burnt at all. I'm going to replace the oil with Royal Purples MAX ATF auto tanny oil.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE TORQUES OF THE BOLTS...

if this is the same as on the th350 do not torque the bolts to ft-lbs when it says in-lbs....that is bad...believe me....

i'm sure they are metric now but pay attention....big mistake when i was 16 years old.... :D

I had one of those electronic kits in one of my previous trucks.  I was very impressed with it and the install was less than 1/2 hour.

It was basically the same as the tow/haul button, but allowed three positions for more shift options.

It is just an electrical connection that I think contols transmission line pressure.  This allows for firmer shifts and will keep the tranny in each gear a little longer.  The hardest part was fishing the "hot" wire through the firewall...

I had one on my Camaro.  I wasn't pleased with it.   It already shifted well stock, but I wanted to have a firmer shift.  It gave me  about the same results as the HPP.

I had a bunch of tranny shops say it was bad for the tranny, so I ditched it.

Keep us posted on how it works for you :D

havnt heard of B&M's kits, Jack would be the one to ask about a kit.

Jack??

The Transgo shift kit is ideal for the 4L85E, IMHO, wipes out the grandma slip shift and snaps it like a Vette slap shift - preserves the tranny and holds the shifts where you want them - I would do this first on a new truck in a heartbeat. :D

Please give more detail on the Transgo kit. I have heard some kits amplify torque management, because the engines timing will still retard at shift points.  Is it a time consuming kit to install? I always get kind of leary droppin the valve body on the newer models.  Is the performance improvement worthy?  Thanks

Jack,

Ive been considering going with the Transgo kit lately.

I dont know much technically about the tranny on my 1500, is it easy to install?

Are the instructions good?

Can i even do it myself?

Would it be bad to do this with the HPPIII shift programming, and should i uninstall this if i do the Transgo?

The instructions that Transgo supplies are TERRIFIC!

This is no minor job.  The transgo kit is much more involved than just changing out a template and a couple ball bearings.

I have a 4L60E kit at home that I bought for my Camaro.  I am pretty sure it will work in my truck, but I am not ready to tackle the job.
