Well i am getting close to 30K miles and i have been thinking what i like and dont like.

Dislikes - minor rattles, thin sheetmetal

What I would do Different

go with 4.10 gears, a different color ( i love the blue however it is a pain to keep it looking nice)

Overall I am very happy.  It is still an enjoyment everytime i get in and turn the key  :D

I know what you mean-my green truck is a pain to keep clean.  Small scratches show up bad.  I have so many now that I've given up even noticing them.

I have almost 23000 miles now.  No regrets other than I sometimes wish I just would've gotten a 2500 light-duty with a 6.0L.  The only thing that aggravates me a little about this truck is the cold-start knock/tick.  No big deal.  I'd buy it over again. :D

How long you planning to keep your's, Ryan?

Ryan,

I have to agree with you on the 4.10 comment. The BFGs  sucked up some power on my truck. It wouldn't be as bad if I had a 5.3.

This is the finest truck I have ever owned.

I wish I had gotten 4.10's too.  I had to buy from dealer stock though and I got almost exactly what I wanted and got a good deal.

Oh stop wining! I have a black truck, with over 12 years on the paint(except for the hood and roof).  :D  I'm about a 100 away from hitting 167K(big deal for me, I got the truck last june with 165K). put in Techron and it didn't much of a difference so far, that's how good it runs!!!!  My biggest regret is Meguiar's gold class, it dosn't like my paint for some reason, it has to be washed 2 times before it sets. Well, that and not getting the A/C fixed yet. 116 heat index is not fun in a black truck. :lookaround:

My is starting to fall apart or should I say crumble apart.(rust firewall) That the only reason I'm have to break down and get a replacement. The old 83 has been a very good ride, only left me on the side of the road once in 20 years.

I too have about the same feelings about mine as Ryan, now that it has 48K miles and will be 4 yrs old Dec 10 this year.  A few persnickety issues, but despite the problems and many trips to the dealer, I'm still happy with it and still look forward to driving it - it's the best truck I have ever had or driven.  :D  :D

Very nice truck.  I went to your web page and looked at all the photo's.  Do you like the Westin Nerf Bars?  I'm thinking of them for my ext. cab.  I think they say that their steps are pressed into the metal vs. cut into the metal.  That way there is less chance of rust.  How are yours holding up?

I also just ordered the same Infinity Kappa's for the back doors that I see you have.  How do you like them?  Any installation tips!?

Thanks.

The rear speaker install is easy.  You will have to drill into the sheet metal to make em hold.  So have some screws handy (i drilled 4 for each)

As for the westins they are holding up better than i thought.  The underneath where they attach to the truck are rusting but is hardly noticable unless you are under it.  They are also scratched up from the salt/snow/ice we get here in the winter.  Id buy em again
