Blower Motor Problem

think the blower motor is going out....or maybe its the switch?

i only have the lower 3 speeds, the HIGH does not work......it used to work, and used to squeak periodically, but has since stopped functioning.....i am starting to notice the same squeaking on the "NEW" high settings.......i may be down to 2 fan speeds soon!!!!! could it really be the fan motor????

anybody????? i have been told by some that there is NO relay, it is all controlled by the switch, which could mean that the switch is BAD??? DOH! that means i have to replace the entire control panel....someone say it isn't so!!!!

I have the same thing with my s-10.

I had no speeds, I replaced the switch with a new one and now I have all but high.

Now, on my s-10 there is a high fan relay, I would suspect you have one too. There should be a resistor with wires leading to the relay also. Follow the positive wire from your fan motor and see if it leads to a relay.

By the way, you can make a jumper wire and use it to jump the contacts on the switches harness...see if one of the comb. gives you high speed. I took my switch apart to see what contacts to jump for each speed. I also jumped the fan motor with a wire to see if it would go into high speed.

Break out your multimeter and search for shorts, I think mine is in the wiring but just don't have time right now to hunt it down.

I just think the blowers motors are a pain period. We bought a 97 2500 and within the first week of buying it, had the car lot replace ours 2 X's. Now I think they replaced it with some rinky dink motor because on our highest setting this thing blows like my car does on the first setting. It's louder than he!! and sounds like it's blowing hard, but you have to be right up on the dash to even feel the air coming out.
