mikeval Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Hello GM tech, just signed up and was wondering if you might be able to give me some information. Has GM come up with a quiet fuel pump for my k3500/ 2000/ 7.4. it works fine just annoying. Thank you Michael
GM-Tech Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Nothing special that I know of. You probably have a bad pump because they're not usually noisy. Sure, if you stand outside the truck in a quiet area, you MIGHT be able to hear it, but you shouldn't hear it inside the truck even with radio and A/C off.
ChevyTech007 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 You might want to change your filter. I have seen clogged filters increase pump noise but usually the only way to stop it completely is to replace the pump.

mikeval Posted September 24, 2006 Author Posted September 24, 2006 Thanks for the replys to my question. I've only had the truck two months and might not be used to all the different sounds. I really enjoy reading all the forums, thanks Mike

ScottyBoy Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 my brothers 1990 1500 had a loud fuell pump as well. But it soon failed on him. The noise may be a sign that it is going out.
