Well. I really wasn't going to do it. But in the end I couldn't NOT do it...

6 Cyl

5 Speed

4x4

Long Bed -- How cool is it, a full sheet of plywood AND the lifegate closes!

Custom Cloth Bench seat (didn't want it, but it came like that)

Tinted glass (didn't want it either)

A/C (didn't want it either)

CD (didn't want it either)

Chrome bumper (REALLY didn't want it).

Before taxes, and title, registration?

$12,900

How the heck can a person say NO to that deal. The thing stickers @ $21K.

It's a 2006, not a 2007. But the rebate is $5000 on the 2006... that and the GM Card Bonus Money/Special Coupon... I had to do it.

Well... There's my first "newbie" post. Hehe.

Pete

P.S. Not sure if this is ok here, mods, move it where it belongs if I'm in the wrong. ;)

Welcome :smash:

Sounds like you got a heckuva deal.

I can understand not wanting the cloth seat or chrome bumper,But why would you not want tinted glass,A/C and a CD player?

Thanks guys...

I really didn't want any options... basically cause I'm being cheap. LOL. I don't even know what glass is tinted? The windshield @ the top?

Heck, I haven't even driven the thing! LOL. I figure for the price, WTF.

Actually, now that I'm thinking... does that back window open. Yeah, I must sound like a real idiot...

Thanks again,

Pete

PM me if you'd like to swap the CD player for a stock AM/FM radio out of my 2006 work truck. Maybe we could work something out if you really don't want it.

Welcome to the forums

I just saw the price you paid for the truck, sounds like an awesome deal. I paid $900 more for mine, and it is only a 2WD, and doesn't have the fancy radio.

These are nice trucks, I also like the simplicity of the work truck model.

welcome, but trust me even though its a work truck your gonna enjoy it, but us with th play trucks enjoy them just as much

BLASPHEMY!!! :smash:

Even my '67 is gonna have air!

That's a sweet deal for a new truck! Enjoy! Can't go wrong with a 5 speed either. What's up with GM? Where's my 5.3L 6 speed manual silverado? Huh GM, where is it??????

Thanks. Some folks are saying that a LWB with the 4.3 (even with a manual trans) is going to be "sluggish"...

What do you think?

I would say that any full size truck with the 4.3L is going to be sluggish. My old S-10 had the 4.3L and that was a fun little truck but it didn't weigh nearly what a full size does. Besides....you don't buy trucks for their performance! (unless it's an SS or possibly a VortexMax)

My 4.3 with the manual tranny won't win any races, but it is plenty quick for me. It has no problem cruising on the interstate at 85. When I go over one of the local passes though, I do have to downshift to 4th gear to maintain a speed of 75-80 though because it is geared so tall (3.23). I also have no problem accelerating to pass someone in the 60-70mph range, as long as I downshift out of 5th gear.

I have heard that the 4.3 with an auto is an absolute dog though...

Well, you're already driving it... does it feel sluggish to you? Good friend of mine has a 99 reg cab shorbox with a 4.3 and automatic, it gets up and goes just fine. A long bed only weighs a few hundred pounds more.... I imaginee it wouldn't do great with a big load in it (quickness wise) but unloaded I think it would do just fine?

How does it feel to you?

I just picked it up and all I can say is... what a great truck! Could it have more power? Sure. But it is perfect for what it is for.
