Well after searching and searching for cheaper tire prices on some Xterrains I found a great deal from an ebay store for $750 shipped to my door...now that is $100 cheaper than anywhere else on the net right now. I decided to get a price match from 4wheelparts to see what they would do and I got an email back from someone named chuck who said no probem they'd match it. Well when I called, chuck had already left for the day and I was told to call back today. Well called today and chuck is not in, so I explained the whole deal to the guy on the phone and offered to forward chucks email. He said no biggie, I trust you, just need to get approval from my manager. Comes back a couple minutes later and says there is no way...best price is $840.

 

Now that I've waited the ebay store has jacked their price up $100 to what everyone else is selling them for. I've since emailed chuck back explaining my frustrations with their company and forwarded it to 4wheelparts president Greg Adler. I'm so freaken mad right now...they just cost me an extra $100 on tires I could have ordered Friday from ebay and been done with it...

Yeah I know what your talking about. I picked up my xterrains off ebay for $700. However I've had some decent luck with 4wheelparts...i do wish they'd give me a break every now and then as I have dumped an a$$ load of money into them already...spent $2000 on my 44" boggers, $1300 on a 7" procomp lift, $700 on my Procomp Xtreme Alloys, all from them. you'd think after 4000 grand they'd toss me a coupon or something.

yeah i think 4wheelparts is a joke when it comes to being competitive in buying wheels, tires, intakes. They are good with lift prices and installation prices, i lucked out and got my wheel and tire package when they were offereing a buy 3 get 1 free with any pro comp wheel or tire but i still payed 5,000 for lift, wheels, tire all installed, but besides that they really are not competitive when it comes to wheels and tires, the lift and tire warranty is the reason why i guess which are both pretty nice. But they are pretty helpful i know they gave me a free 10 day check up on my lift when it had been 4 months since i had the lift installed. Can't all be winners, win some lose some

5 grand for lift tires and wheels!!! GOD d**n!!! I guess thats why I did it all myself..then again, yours will probably last alot longer, and I had to replace 2 ball joints and both front brake lines....eh..it was fun anyways.

yeah they called me while they were installing my lift and told me that with the mileage on my truck i had to replace my u-joints and my tie rods, my truck has like 203,000 miles on it NOW, and i had the lift installed at around 196,000 so that also added like 150-200 bucks to the price it ended up being 4,600 out the door, $650 for labor, so not quite 5,000 but close enough.

yeah i've been very pleased with how its been running, i havent had any problems with it yet (knock on wood) i purchased the truck with 190,000 on it and i couldnt pass up on it, it has everything in it leather, heated seats, bed liner all that stuff, and the leather was in brand new condition and he said they were the stock seats, and that he drove from waco to austin all the time so i took it for a test drive and i knew i had to have it, so yeah the 5.3 is still very strong, and larry your truck looks badass, you have the other color truck that i was looking at, i love that billet grill, the clear corner turn signals, the hood, the wheels and bed cover you have good taste. :thumbs:

    • I thought I was building a HD 3500 srw, maybe I was lost.
    • No doubt, I definitely agree with you. However, considering the 6.2 and 3.0 have been catastrophically failing with very little miles, I figured I would put trouble free. I’m at 18,4xx and still not a single issue.  
    • It’s never dry here but it gets hot. My 4 vehicles I keep at home drive an 18 mile loop. One 6 days a week. Two about 3 days each and one once a month. Only one goes on trips about 4 times a year 1000 to 2000 miles each time. One 26 years old gets driven once a month for 22 years. One 14 years old goes 6 days a week. The other two are recent at 2 and 4 years. All are performing normal no extra service other than that would be half of recommended or severe service in the maintenance manual. No extra water or steam out the exhaust or premature plug wear. I would consider an 18 mile loop would be enough. So apparently once a month at 18 miles for 22 years has kept the collector car running well. About 45 minutes a month. 
    • It is working as designed.  NHT and non NHT trucks have the same exact transmission cooling setup.  NHT just gets a larger radiator.     The transmission cooler loop on these is as follows.     -Transmission out goes into an oil to water heat exchanger (item #1 in the first illustration below).  This exchanger has engine coolant opposite the transmission fluid and uses engine coolant to warm and then regulate the transmission fluid temperature when its in the operating window.   - From the cooler it goes to a thermal bypass valve (item #11 in the 2nd illustration below).  If the ATF has not reached the temp to open the bypass (194F), it loops back.   - When it reaches 194F, the thermostat opens and ATF then flows out to the oil to air auxiliary cooler (item #17 in the 2nd illustration) at the front of the truck.  From there it goes back to the transmission.     Your only fix would be to swap for the PPE thermal bypass delete block which will open the loop to the aux cooler all the time.  It will STILL run warm, probably 170-200F, but that's as low as you'll get it as its still flowing through the oil to water exchanger.      
    • Most say the oil temperature needs to above the boiling point of water to rid it of moisture and long enough to dry it. Many think that is about a hour at 212 F or more. Those people have never line dried cloths in a Midwest winter. Leave a pan of water sitting on the counter and eventually it all evaporates. So heat drives the time it takes. Water in oil under 175 F, the Nitration initiation temperature, is a minimum then for temperature and samples I've done that use Karl Fisher method say about a hour (in a healthy well tuned motor) over 175 F will dry it to under 800 ppm. Low enough to not be much of a factor. Motors with weak rings will take longer and the colder the air temperature the longer it takes.   On a cold motor there is also the condensation temperature. Blowby gases that contain moisture are subject to that cold cylinder wall, like sweat on a glass of ice tea. But also subject to the Law of Partial Pressures. Wear studies by GM and the DOD  indicate wear is a real issue below 85 F and a concern to 140 F but doesn't become a minimal factor until about 160 F. You know this intuitively when you see water vapor exit the exhaust pipe until the system gets above the dew point. It isn't magic, it's physics and it fascinates me. I know you didn't ask but....I over share sometimes. 😉    You keep the Camaro's high and tight.
