I had them on my 2003 Silverado and they were a little stiffer than I wanted but to tell the truth I really haven't been able to find much difference between any of the shocks I have ever had. Have had the RSX, Monroe Sensa-Trac & Reflex recently. Also the regular, old standard NAPA shocks have been on my old 82 Ford with no complaint. Was disappointed not to be able to tell much difference between the stock shocks & aftermarket.

Scott, I just installed a set of KYB MonoMax shocks on my Wife's Yukon XL and I really like them. They seemed to be somewhat less 'harsh" on road seams and bumps than the OE unit. We sell KYB and I may be a little biased, however they are a very well engineered product. I would encourage you to take a look at them and actually see if you can get your hands on a set. KYB engineers some internal pieces in that the cheaper brands do not. For example, the tubes themselves are drawn steel and seemless where many companies use a rolled and welded tube. Of course the seam weld is smooth to the eye but it still causes greater seal wear.

 

KYB is said to be an "engineering company who designs and manufactures ride control products. Many others are marketing companies who happen to make shocks."

 

 

PS I will admit that the OE shocks that I took off her Yuk at 48K miles were still very solid and had a great pressure and rebound. I probably did not need to change them but I did.

I installed a set of the RSX shocks this past summer on my 02 Z-71. The ride is definitely firmer and the truck will hold it's own in curves much better than before. If you have any other questions about them feel free to ask.

Thanks for the input. My biggest consern is 2 things. One is that I never liked my burbs body roll on corners. and two would be that the RSX would not be too harsh over every little pebble. I guess I cant get what I want, which is handling and soft ride. Did you install the shocks your self. I know the frt is easy but not sure about the top bolts on the rears. thanks for any input

Yes I installed them myself and the rears were easier than the front (not that the fronts were difficult)...at least on my truck, not sure about your situation. The RSX shocks will definitely correct that body roll and I personally don't find them to be too harsh. I drive my truck daily on the roads of Louisiana (some of them might as well be dirt) and they suit me just fine.
