Take a look at this truck on Ebay and let me know what you think. It's very sharp but a few things scare me, especially that it has a rebuilt title. The seller says they've replaced the hood, both front fenders, bumper, grill and lights. A rebuilt title in Texas means the vehicle was totalled and it would take more than that to total a truck worth this. I don't have any aftermarket chips or controllers so I'm not sure about the BullyDog programmer and Outlook monitor. The seller also states the console was added later...makes me wonder what was there before unless they swapped out the bench seat for the buckets.

I wouldn't buy anything with a rebuilt title, especially with all of the Katrina flooding recently in that region.

 

If it's a "rebuilt" title because of an accident like the auction seems to imply, there is probably frame damage. I would think that it would take a pretty serious accident for an insurance company to total a new truck, with less than 20,000 miles that probably cost over $40,000.

 

If it was totalled due to flood damage, there will be all sorts of very expensive problems popping up through the trucks life.

 

I'd definately pass on this one.

The interior is peacemealed together. There are grey seats and parts of the dash and then tan upper dash and carpet and dash supports and glovebox, I also say stay away

Looks good from the outside but I would also stay AWAY from this truck. This just seems like there are alot of band-aids on this truck. What happens in a year from now when everything goes to sh!t

Personally I think the different colors int he plastic dash are...hmm...maybe interesting looking.

 

But yea, I dunno. I with the other guys, probably a submarine in its past life.

from the description, it sounds like the guy buys rebuildables/repairables and this could have been a theft recovery. Repairables shows some of the typical available, especially great if theres a suburban for someone that wants to do a Urban Gorilla body conversion.

 

But yeah it could have just as well been a flood vehicle...but if someone is looking for a work truck to run into the ground $21K is much better than $40K-$50K

yeah the interior deffinetly doesnt look right. i mean from the factory for instance mine has grey interior but then a light colored headliner...but all that ive seen are like that. This one has different color carpet, seats and dash pieeces and i would say that just aint right.

      I have an Autel, works great for what it is. Can't do some specific things because you need say the GM tool, VCDS for Audi/Volkswagon and others of course. But those times are few and far between for me.   The other tool I'd like to try one day is the new Topdon scan tools. Seen several video's on them and many youtube people review them.    I've never subscribed for updates or payed to do that stuff on my Autel, so I'm sure I'm missing out on some of the updates but I'm fine with that for now.

      I am in the market for a bidirectional scan tool so was hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. There are so many options out there it is hard to narrow down which make/model to choose.   I have always done my own vehicle work so looking to maximize capability with the scanner. Ideal price is $1k or less but would be willing to exceed if it opens up significant benefits.  Currently my 24 2500 is the newest vehicle but also have a few mid to late 2010s Subarus as well.    It seems that the Autel MP900 has a decent amount of features at a reasonable price?

      There was talk over the last couple of years that the contract to build these trucks between GM and International would not be renewed.  International moved production of all their other trucks besides the companion CV model out of the Springfield plant some time ago when they opened their San Antonio plant.  That left Springfield only building the Silverado Medium Duty, International CV Series, and some Express/Savanna long wheelbase cutaways.  International also put the plant up for sale some time ago.  This all answered my earlier question as to why GM and International did nothing with these trucks since they were introduced, as they had basically become a market 'placeholder' with a finite life.    The Silverado Medium Duty/International CV trucks were interesting combination of a GM powertrain, electrical system, and K2XX Silverado cab with an International chassis that was supposedly designed for a step-van type vehicle they never produced.  They were manufactured in International's Springfield plant along with the IH MV series initially.  When first introduced, there was much talk that the Silverado Medium Duty/CV would eventually get a gasoline engine option along with other upgrades and GM and IH would work on a class 6/7 joint venture truck.  This was before VW bought Navistar out, after that happened no more was said.  Draw your own conclusions...   About the time talk started that the GM/IH joint venture was not going to be renewed, rumors started that GM would develop a new line of medium duty trucks themselves.  The story is the new trucks will be part of the next generation HD's due in 2028, and will still feature a 'straight rail' chassis design that the current medium duty has.  GM views this as a desirable feature that differentiates their truck from the competition.  A gasoline engine option is also expected.  As the current Silverado Medium Duty remains in production until September 2026 and there is still a lot of inventory available do not expect any official word for some time.   I believe GM remains committed to their successful partnership with Isuzu, and all the LCF models will still be available from Chevy Commercial dealers.  Isuzu is on the cusp of opening a new large plant in South Carolina and there is also speculation that this may result in new product for both Isuzu and Chevy Commercial dealers.
