2003 Denali Transfer case replaced...

Looking very seriously at a 2003 Denali XL.

One owner, about 70000 miles.

 

Yes, a fair amount for a truck that was sold just over 3 (June 2003 sell, March 2003 build).

 

Apparently the owner left an issue with the transfer case at some point a year after purchase. He left it for too long, and the transfer case gave out on him...at about 40K miles (so just out of warranty), in Jan 2005.

 

He was on the hook ($5K) for basically a new transfer case and labour etc at a GM dealer.

 

Its making me look twice, to make sure he didn't neglect anything else major.

 

My question is general...is that new transfer case still warrantied? If so, for how long?

You could call the dealer and ask them how long the warranty is on the T-case. If it is warrantied find out if the warranty is transferable and not just for the original owner. IMHO, if you have doubts about the maintenance and care of this vehicle it may be wise to look elsewhere.
