Hesitation

I have a hesitation problem when the engine is cold on a '99 5.3 Liter. I have also noticed my temperature gaguge appears to be out as well. When I first start my truck in the morning after it has sit all night the temp gauge is already showing 75 degrees (It has been around freezing temperature outside)

 

I have done the test with voltages/temperatures off of the engine temperature sensor. My truck is Canadian so temps are in Celcius.

0 2.06K Ohms

The first and last readings were taken with the engine off. 94.5 degrees appears to be normal operating temperature.

 

Do these numbers look normal?

Did you have the sensor unpluged when testing for ohm values. If not retest it again with it unpluged. With the sensor pluged in you will not get correct readings.

 

I mainly need to know what the resistance is when it is cold or same as outside temp.

Yes, the sensor was unplugged for the OHM readings.

 

The first ohm reading was when the engine was cold (2.06 K Ohm)

 

The second ohm reading was when the engine was at operating temp (231 Ohm)

I'm sorry, I was out of the office for a few days and forgot to reply back to you.

 

With the readings you have the ect sensor is out of spec and would cuase hesitation

 

At freezing or 0 °C the OHM reading should be around 9420 OHMS or 9.4k OHMS
