Oil Filter Adapter ???

Looking to install an Oil Temp. Gauge. They say there are adapters that hook up to the oil filter that let you install the sending unit for the gauge. Bought a 2001 Silv. 5.3L and looking for the part no. - WEBSITE OR INFO ON HOW TO DO THIS. thanx!!! sORRY BOUT THE CAPS LOCK --

 

Just read about an "Allen Wrench fitting near the oil filter ???

Love to add this guage but being a computer guy - Not Too

Go to Home Depot and get a couple of close nipples(1" to 2" if I remember correctly either 1/4" or 3/8" diameter), a 90 deg elbow and a "T", then pull off your Oil pressure sending unit, install a nipple in the hole, put the "T" on if needed the elbow and then install the Factory sending unit on one side, and the Aftermarket line/sending unit on the other. If this is a mechanical gauge USE COPPER TUBING. Make sure you use teflon tape on the threads. Easier, and Cheaper than trying to find an adapter that may or may NOT be available. Plus the connections are on top of the engine where you can get to them, not next to the hot exhaust pipe, where the line may rupture due to heat.
