Remote start

So I had my mind made up on a Viper (DEI) 160XV 1 mile range remote start.

 

Then I talk to another place who sells AUTOSTART. I am not a fan of buying brands I have not heard of however this place has sold DEI for 10 years, and then moved to autostart. So they must be doing something right for them to move.

 

They have a unit which is 2 way (AS-2600iTW-FM) claims to get 3,000 foot range for $550. The price point is about the same as the DEI one. DEI clams to get 1 mile range and the owner of the store (seller of DEI) has one in his truck, tested it at 1.2 miles and still worked (straight line of sight obviously)

 

I guess They are both the same $, I like the autostart remote a little better, but have never heard of them and don’t know about the range.

 

HE also showed me a autostart 'brain box' and I will say it had a whole lot more to it than the cheap DEI ones… felt like there was some REAL circuitry inside.

I am purchasing the Bulldog Security Deluxe 500 model for myself. Actually waiting on 2 of them to come any day.

They have a deluxe 200 model also, that is an older model with not all the same features, but very close to the 500. I have used one of there older Remote Starts alone time ago, and it was awesome. Not to hard to install, I am guessing about 5 hours in my Burban, but I also am good with wiring. I am then guessing about 7-8 with my wifes Minivan, as there is more that I have to do to make hers work the way I want with the power sliding doors and all.

 

Check them out, this is the one I have been happy in the past with there stuff. It is a 2 way LCD REmote also, on both models stating up to 1/2 mile.

 

Why would you need anything more than a 1/2 mile, kinda scary to me if you ask me about that, lol. Hit the wrong button to far away and yours cars started and running and your not near it.

well I dont NEED more than 1/2 mile, but if i have something that is 2 way, and I am in a building id be nice to be able to start it b/c we know that 1 mile range will be reduced a lot depending on conditions..

 

can anyone comment on the Autostart brand?

I've never heard of Autostart, but Autopage is another popular brand I hear about on another forum I go to. I believe the range is only 2000 feet though.
