8.1 mileage - 11.5 MPG - time for the blower!

I filled the truck for the first time over the weekend and saw 11.5 MPG with a mixture of city and highway driving. This seemed to be a little bit better than what I was getting from the 6.0. I'll have a chance to install the Whipplecharger and Other Guy's Headers this week. This will make a HUGE difference in performance and I'll see what these mods do to the mileage.

I can tell you what headers and a Whipple would do to my mileage.  Straight in the crapper!!  :D   Looking forward to seeing how your Suburban shakes out with what you've got planned.  Looking hot so far !  :P

WOW Tom, how you are getting that is simply phenomenal.  My mileage is already in the crapper, no need for a whipplecharger to make it worse.  :D

Maybe that has to do with my leadfoot though.  :P

I usually don't drive to easy and I don't think my driving style has changed to much with this truck. I was surprised to see over 125 miles at the 3/4 tank mark (don't remember the exact number). I was lucky to get to 100 miles at that point in the 6.0.

Nice mileage - some questions.

What, if any, cat back system are you going to use?

Also, why the Volant over a K&N FIPK?

Also, which MAF will you use

Thanks

I'll be running the stock catback. Yes, I won't be changing this one. The '01 sounded good with a B&B exhaust but there were times when it was just to loud (like trying to sleep in the 3rd row while the driver is cranking along at 75+ MPH with a trailer in tow). So I'll give up a little horsepower to have at least one quiet vehicle. The MAF will also be stock and I went with the Volant because it should be quieter than the K+N. Volant uses an enclosed box around the filter while the K+N is exposed.

Didn't get a chance to do the header and blower install last week. The entertainment system is going in now (Pioneer in-dash CD/DVD player, Alpine screens behind each headrest, 12 disk changer, satellite radio and Microsoft X-Box). I'll finish the performance mods next week.
