VDO oil temp. gauge

Want to put an additional (Oil Temp.) gauge in my 2001 5.3L Silv.

Don't really want to weld a sending unit in the oil pan. Is there an easier way - sending unit hooked to the oil filter etc ??? Heard a few ideas but not reliable info.

I have seen sending units that replace your drain plug

Good idea but how do you change the oil on a regulat basis. I was hoping for someone who had installed the oil temp. with other than drilling onto the oil pan etc. Thanks

the sender i seen just screws in to the extisting threads on drain plug and has a wiring connector on it you just remove sender to drain oil

Im actually looking for one...where do I find one of these screw in sending units?
