I have the Putco chrome plastic door handle covers on my truck, held on with red 3M adhesive tape. Thinking about taking the covers off. Any ideas on how to get the tape to release, and maybe clean the residue off the black plastic????? :)

I had to pull some Ventshades that used the same tape. I used a hair drier to soften the adhesive and it helped some. Once they are off, the glue is pretty tough. You can buy a decal and adhesive remover from MMM but a good wax or polish will get it off with a little rubbing.

What are you planning to do with the covers? I am not interested in the covers that cover the entire handle assy but I am looking to buy a set of the ones that cover just the part of the handle that you touch.

I got some at Auto Zone. I can't remember what I paid for them, but, it was pretty cheap.

My problem is different, I can't get my stainless door covers to stick! The tape on the back of them when they came was some cheap double-sided tape, that did nothing. After they all fell off, I cleaned the handles (with alcohol, not bud light either) and put them on with 3-m, still the tailgate cover fell off on the road ( saved it, thank the lord) but yeah they still are a little loose.

this dude is cool>>>>>>>>>
