Bought a 2001 1500LS. The fan ROARS at you. When you rev it the fan makes more noise than the engine. Is this normal?? Had a 90 something JIMMY and that fan made some noise but only at times. Thanks!!! :chevy:

The fan in your truck has a 2-speed clutch. When it's really hot outside, it will run at a higher speed.

If it's not hot outside, it's possible then that the clutch is acting up.

It should not roar all the time. It's normal for that noise to occur when the fan clutch is supposed to engage, such as higher than normal engine temperatures, and sometimes it'll even come on when started for the first time in many hours, but it should eventually cycle off.

So, if it does it all the time and never goes away, you have a bad fan clutch.
