Hi guys im new to the site, and well i currently drive a 2000 chevy 1500 z71 and im looking into getting dual exhaust but i want to do TRUE DUAL exhaust with TWO flowmaster 40 series mufflers but i've heard that putting this type of exhaust can make the computer chip in the truck mess up because of the amount of back pressure from the exhaust isnt the same because of the two mufflers and can mess up the truck from what one source told me.....CAN SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT and explain the pro's and con's or if you have any PERSONAL experiences Feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!!

THANKS

Welcome to

I can't say much about the dual-exhuast & flowmasters. Many hear have a similiar setup so I'm sure they'll pipe in soon. ;)

But to answer how to post pictures of your truck.....upload your photos to a free photo posting site (photobucket.com is one such place...that's the one I use) and then reference the url for the photo in your posts. Much like the picture of my truck below. Hope that helps.

nice truck bro...with mine and my brother's trucks he is running a single chamber flowmaster, just one dumped off right under his cab....so the flowmaster sits right behind the cat...and he is running 2 5"x12" chrome tips....that thing is rediculous...so loud. mine is set up the same way with a 2 chamber and 3 inch tubing from my cat to flowmaster.....i have heard of muffler shops doing 2 flowmasters...but goodluck on pricing and adding another cat...it can be done from what i am told. hope this helps you out a little

well thats the thing i have 2 catalytic converters but they both go to 1 muffler , so i know its not gonna be too pricey i mean compared to what the lift, tires, and wheels cost me

i see....if i were you i would go with a single camber flowmaster with 2 5''x12'' tips pointed down, dumped right under the cab so you can show it off to everyone....sounds cool when you start it then when you get on it it screams...but it's all up to you..everyone has different preferences...good luck!

No.

I would move the exhaust as far back as possible to maintain some quiteness in the cab. It will eventually get old not being able to converse in the truck without yelling. If you want something unique, I'd put the mufflers right behind the cab opposite the gas tank, with outlets on the side, or dumped, but the exhaust being shot out under the truck can become corrosive to the metal. So I would try to expel the gas outside the truck.

I would also cut the old off right in front of the y-pipe. Mainatin the two cats in front add one next to the second rear cat creating four total, two pipes side by side to two mufflers where the one big one is now, the two tailpipes exiting in your choice of location.

if you keep the pipes small 2 1/2 and run a x pipe and keep the cats will not mess up your motor. if you remove your cats, then you'll need it tuned for that. if you want loud and good performance stay away from flows, they don't flow well. find 2 12" spintech and have a nice time.......:wtf:

Well I have a 4.3L with a true dual flowmaster 40 original series catback system and never have received some error from the computer....those 40's sound real nice

yeah technically it wont be TRUE dual exhaust because i AM keeping the cats. So yeah i plan on keeping the cats on there, im just wanting to make sure that it wont mess up the engine, and computers and all that crap, soo yeah i think im gonna go get it this weekend probably. Early Christmas present
