I have a 93 chevy z71.I can't get the heat to warm up until it has been running for a while.Sometimes longer than others but an average of 45 minutes. If i go out and start my truck to let it warm up it will not get hot.I actually have to drive it before it warms up.Any advice??

Camp,

What does temp gauge say after 20-30 min's? Any movement? Possible stuck open thermostat.

Maybe a thermostat.

Man,its like you hit me in the head with something. The temp doesn't go up to normal running temperature until I've driven it for some time. The obvious sometimes is the most elusive. Thanks guys for the help.

If it doesn't end up being the thermostat I had an 89 scottsdale at one time that the heater core actually clogged up so only a dribble of coolant circulated. I just took the heater core out and replaced it. Took under an hour I believe on that truck.

Changed the thermostat yesterday but did not drive it long enough to warm.If that doesn't work I'll look into the heater core. Thanks guys.BC
