few basic Audio questions

Hey Guys and Gals- Just a few basic Audio questions. Im new to this Vehicle and the install it will take. I've installed plenty of systems in pre 2000 model cars, but nothing like this.

I have an 05 Denali with the Bose system.

All I want to do is simply hook up my JCV head unit, two 650Watt Alpines and my two 12in Infinity subs.

1) What kind of adapter will I need to allow the controls on the steering wheel to work with the new head unit?

2) My Head unit is XM compatible. Is the stock satellite controller in the stock head unit or external?

3) What's the easiest way to wire? Do you just drop the RCA's down behind the dashboard then run under the rug? And the amp power... is that easier to run through the grommet (if there is one) or should it run underneath the truck then up thorough the floor?

Anything else I should know? Im planning on mounting the amps under the 2nd or 3rd row seats and installing a down firing box in the back.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

I don't know if your CD player is compatible with your steering wheel controls. a lot are not and the ones that are compatible you have to buy special equipment for it to work.

I don't have much experience with the XM radio. I had an alpine receiver that had everything but the antenna built in. I wasn't happy with it so I canceled the subscription radio and never tried it again.

As far as your power wire, it would be best to run it through your firewall. Just inspect both sides of the firewall and find a place clear of stuff you might mess up with the drill bit lol! I'd stick with the same side of the truck as your battery is mounted. I recommend finding a rubber ring or thin plug to put in the hole you just drilled than run your wire through it. Otherwise you might cut your wire and ground your battery out (not good) You can usually find these at an auto parts store for a couple bucks. If you pull up your plastic kick plates in the door opening's you'll see there is a nice little channel there that you can run your wire through. it should hold 0 gage and bigger, Run your power wire all the way back to your seats with this.

You should run your RCA's down the opposite side of the truck than the power wire. You will have the same channels there and this will reduce any interference in your sound signal to the amp. Are you going to be designing and building your own box? most of the time you will get higher SPL if you face your subs toward the rear of the vehicle.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply, that helps. Glad to hear I'll have a groove to run the wires down under the pannels.

I saw a box on ebay for the Yukons, Tahoes, and Escalades. It was a down firing box that fit between the 3rd row and the back. I dont have the XL, so i dont think there is anyway a box would be able to hols the 12's facing the rear. I'll have to measure it up though.

Prob wont get to this til after the first  but I will post some pics and follow up when I have it done.

Thanks for the help!
