Changing Antifreeze 8.1

I have a 03 HD W/8.1 Time to change Antifreeze . Whats the best way to drain the system? I can't find a drain anywhere. Also is there any tricks to refilling coolant?Thanks

The radiator drain cock is on the LH tank, at the bottom facing rearward. You can see it by looking down between the alternator and hose.

 

There are two drain plugs in the block, one on each side. If you look at the engine through the shock holes in the front fenderwells you'll see the bolt heads to the rear of each view on the side of the block.

 

No tricks, just use Dex-cool and pure water.

I just swapped my water pump and thermostat last weekend and did it all from the top of the truck. I have one of those $8 syphon pumps from KMart (the orange/reddish ones with the two 3-foot lengths of hose). I popped the cap off of the radiator and snaked one end of the hose down to the bottom, and looped the other hose over the grill into a 5-gal paint bucket. A few pumps on the syphon, and it drained itself.

 

The pump only works one way so you may get the wrong end in the radiator at first, but you'll know if its not sucking it out. Piece of cake.

 

Then, to refill, put the bucket up on top of the battery (all plastic bottom, no worries) and reverse the lines. I had about a quart left in the 5-gal bucket when the radiator was full. I just moved the hose over into the overflow bottle and pumped it in that. VERY easy and NO MESS. Anyway, that's how I will do it from now on.
