fuel guage

hi anyone done this before, the fuel guage in my 03 chev.2500 hd silv. with the duramax is staying past full, we have determined it is the dash guage, thinking of putting a after market one , instead of going into the cluster. any help thanks jack

w/ the dealership scan tool it is possible to "command" the gauge from full to empty, on occasion, this "unsticking" of the gauge seems to be a "semi-permanent" fix.....otherwise, I would send out the cluster for repair.

single tank, we used a snapon scaner read the fuel persentage then i went an put more in an the persentage changed, they want about $400 to redo cluster, an can happen again, this is only a 2003 truck. thanks for reply jack

just 100,000 not even broke in , an i service this truck every 6,000 miles i haul motorcycles for a living.
